The Franciscan Friary Commemoration


During the summer of 2007, a plaque to commemorate the Franciscan Friary will be placed upon a specially-commissioned stone plinth located over the remains of a building known to have formed part of the Friary.

column A plinth will be constructed from hamstone in the shape of a column preserved in the Admiral Blake Museum.
The memorial will be located within a small plot of land in Friarn Avenue, Bridgwater.


The Civic Society is grateful to English Heritage, Sedgemoor District Council, the Heritage Lottery Fund and individuals for their financial support of this project.
