Programme of Summer Tours & Visits 2009

The Civic Society is pleased to offer once again opportunities for local tours and visits to nearby places of interest over the summer months.

Please note:

Participants will need to make their own travel arrangements to the venue.
Each tour will be led by an expert member of the Civic Society.
Children below 16 years old must be accompanied by a related adult.
Participants should dress appropriately for the weather.
Participants join the tours and visits entirely at their own risk.
There is no charge for the walking tour of Bridgwater on 14 June, but donations to the Civic Society will be appreciated. Walking Tour of Bridgwater lasts 1 - 1½ hour. It will be on town centre footpaths and streets. Participants in the Walking Tours will have the opportunity to learn about the history, social development, architecture and the built environment of Bridgwater.
Visits last for the afternoon. There may be a charge for admission or refreshments, or both.

Sunday 14 June	Bridgwater		Guided Walking Tour of the historic town, joined by Glastonbury Conservation Society led by Dr Peter Cattermole. Followed by Tea & Biscuits in the Unitarian Chapel Schoolroom, Dampiet Street.	2 30 pm under East Window of St Mary's Church
Sunday 12 July	Cannington	TA5 2LS	The Walled Gardens of Cannington. A guided tour of the newly landscaped gardens followed by refreshments. Charge of £5 per person.	2 30 pm Cannington College
Wednesday 12 August	Ashford nr Charlynch	Ashford education centre	Guided Tour of Ashford reservoir and water works Ashford Water Works by Mr. Norman Lewis. Followed by Tea & Biscuits at the Apple Tree Hotel.	2 30 pm at Ashford Water Works
